iPad Raw file(s) developing and blending

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, however.....

I’m a property photographer and use an iPad Pro 12.9 256gb with affinity photo as a sole editor for my work. Finding my way slowly round the app and it’s impressive. But I’ve got an issue/question?

I have changed my photography method, I now take ambient photos to be blended with one or sometimes multiple flash photos, which are all raw files only. I open a new file, which takes me into develop persona. I make my changes and then need to place another file on top. I also need to be able to develop the new raw file, to ensure it’s a close match to the first. Then I can blend the best parts!

It won’t let me develop the second picture so my new system isn’t possible (this is a typical system for LR PS). Can anyone help?

many thanks

Darren

Hi Darren,

When you place a RAW on top of another image it is added as a embedded image file which is why it does not use the Develop persona. You will need to process each of the RAW files individually using the same settings and export these in a standard image format then use these files to create your blended images.

I normally save to jpeg for the client, but what’s the best format to initially save as whilst I’m still editing? Don’t fully understand the other format options, but want to retain maximum information in the photo until they’re ready to send off in jpeg?

thanks again!

Darren
