affinity designer Adding steps to gradient over several objects

Hello!

A picture probably says more than thousand words.

Please have a look at the attached image. I'm trying to recreate this "polygon" look.

I know how to create a gradient over several objects by selecting them at the same time. Is it possible to add these artifical "steps" over the gradient's colors? Similar to the orange-to-red gradient in the attached image. Or is it all done manually?

If you know any other hints on how to create this or similar polygon looks, I'd be happy to know them as well!

You can't do that in just a gradient or a few as the triangle colours are solid. I would say you'd draw the shape then do the triangles and quads as sub objects just to split it up. Then create a duplicate and fill it with the yellow to orange/red gradient then it's easy to use that to pick colours for the triangles you drew.  The Purple you can just do by eye as there's only three parts and it's not the same style .

Hi, Eroica,

Here is something that might interest you. It is a stack of layers with gradient fills. Each has a posterization of 3. Different blend modes, and amounts of opacity. Not quite what you showed, but might be tweakable to get the similar results. Tho' I think just doing it manually might have been faster than messing w. the gradient stop values. and positions

thank you for your explanation and sample file. Specifically, "Posterize" is the thing that I needed. I'm glad that you showed me this option!
