mfall87
Hi I'm totally new to Affinity Design, so this probably me doing something wrong. I have two different square shapes that is looking similar. Somehow I cannot use the corner tool on one of the squares, nothing happens when I apply it. Can this shape be locked somehow? Staff MEB Posted February 14, 2018 Staff Share Posted February 14, 2018 Hi mfall87, Welcome to Affinity Forums Can you please attach a screenshot of the application window with the Layers panel visible so we can see what you are working with? Thanks. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
mfall87
Hi MEB Thanks for the answer! Here is a screenshot. The corners that I have painted a circle around are the corners I cannot use the corner tool on. I have added the small white squares on those corners myself. Best regards, Matthias 1.afphoto
Alfred
Your screenshot shows that the currently selected tool is the Node Tool, not the Corner Tool. This can happen quite easily if you use keyboard shortcuts: if the Node Tool is selected and you press C, the Corner Tool will be selected instead, but if you press C again it will go back to the Node Tool (i.e. the previously selected tool). Staff MEB Posted February 14, 2018 Staff Share Posted February 14, 2018 Hi mfall87, Thanks for the screenshot. Seems you already have a rounded corner applied to the top and bottom corners of that shape but with the Corner type (in the context toolbar) set to Straight. You then added two additional nodes to the end of the chamfered line on each corner and are trying to now round these corners as well. To do what you want, you have to delete the two additional nodes you have added, so only the main straightened corner remain. Then with the Corner Tool selected press the Bake Corner button on the context toolbar to permanently change the geometry of the shape, then apply the Corner Tool again on each of the resulting nodes. See the clip below (no sound). digger, Alfred, Electrofied and 1 other 4 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
