hfrancis Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Is there any way to set the defaults for some of the tools in Affinity Photo (on Mac). Examples that I have to set every time I use it: - when cropping I always have to click the mode to "Original" - when cropping I always tick the box for "Darken Border" - when using the "Gradient" tool it always gives a gradient from white to light-grey (why?), but I always have to laboriously set it to white to black, isn't that more useful for exposure masks etc? I'm sure there are others, but those are the most common examples. cdxp 1 Quote
v_kyr Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I don't think so, meaning there are some panel settings which always do come up with their initial defaults here and so don't remember their last used settings. The gradient tool for example just remembers the last used gradient just inside a swatch color panel view (at least in Designer). Other more system related and OS shared panels (like open/save etc.) do usually remember here the last used locations. - However maybe the settings behavior for certain panels is intentionally designed to be that way as is, or their prefs aren't stored and reloaded for certain other reasons here. It's something the devs and UI usability designers will have to tell you here! Put a nice black to white gradient in a mask and you cant see the join. Either have black to white as the default or use the X D shortcuts to set gradient end points defaults to black and white. Or at least allow the settings to be saved so that preferred colours are stored for gradients. Who decided that white to light grey was a useful or even visible default for gradients? If it is useful for something can someone say what ? Quote
