Can't open "filename.afdesigner files

Hi can anyone throw some light on why I can no longer open files created in Designer? Not sure if it was due to upgrade? The message I am given is the file type is not supported! Oh well,  Back to Drawplus!

Welcome to Affinity Forums

Are you trying to open a file created in the Retail version on a more recent Beta?

If that's not the case, can you attach one of the files that's not being recognised so we can check out if the issue is with the file itself?

I no longer have the file, but I had that problem too back when Designer was in beta. I moved the file to another location forgetting that it was already open. Then after that, I couldn't open it again. Unlike the other Affinity files, it didn't show a thumbnail preview, just the Designer logo, and the file extension was shown in the name. And I got the same dialogue. "Failed to Open" followed by a notice saying that the file type is not supported.

 

Is this perhaps what happened? You moved the file while it was open? Or did you experience something else?
