stantonjulie
I've just downloaded a trial version of affinity. can i use this to replace iphoto or do i need to keep the latter for storage? I never switched to Photos as didn't like it but worried if the software disappears what to do with my picture library.
Staff stokerg Posted October 10, 2017 Staff Share Posted October 10, 2017 Hi Stantonjulie and Welcome to the Forums, Affinity Photo is a photo editing/Raw Development app and isn't a replacement for Photos, so you will still have access to Photos with Affinity installed. Photos will continue to store and manage your images and you can use Affinity to edit them
R C-R
@stokerg mentioned Photos but the same thing applies to iPhoto -- Affinity Photo is not a replacement for either Apple app. You can access your iPhoto library from within Affinity Photo through the View menu > Media Browser item, or from the File menu > Open dialog sidebar Media > Photos item. For as long as iPhoto continues to work with OS X/macOS, you can set Affinity Photo as its default editor in the iPhoto Preferences > Advanced tab > "Edit Photos:" popup menu. stantonjulie
Thanks for the speedy replies. In that case should I stick with keeping the library in iphoto or photos? I shoot in raw mainly and worry that photos can't store that format?
