photo16
Hello, have a question. I want to split a circle in 2 parts. After splitting the horizontal line should not visible, this means only the 2 curves are visible. Is that possible?
dutchshader
I would use the donut tool to do this Quote intel core i5, 16GB 128Gb ssd win10 Pro Huion new 1060plus. philips 272p 2560x1440px on intel HD2500 onboard graphics Razer Tartarus Chroma
Staff MEB Posted March 23, 2017 Staff Share Posted March 23, 2017 Hi photo16, As @dutchshader pointed out use a filled donut shape to create the circle and a rectangle shape to create the "line" then select both and subtract them (menu Layer ▸ Geometry ▸ Subtract) to get a clean shape with just the necessary nodes. Sample file attached - just select both objects and subtract them. sample.afdesign Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
photo16
Thanks a lot, that's fine. The only disadvantage might be that I can't change the line style since the donut is not a line.
Staff MEB Posted March 23, 2017 Staff Share Posted March 23, 2017 If you want to use a line style (like dashed or something) you have to convert the line to a shape first going to menu Layer ▸ Expand Stroke, then execute the boolean operation (Affinity Designer doesn't perform boolean operations between lines and shapes). Note that currently expanding a stoke adds superfluous nodes to the resulting shape. This is already logged and should be improved in a future update.
