I used to own an RTX 3070, and I never experienced this visual artifacting on that card, so my presumption is that it is due to incompatibilities with the newer GPU architecture? This happens whether the GPU is under load, or completely idle. I'm happy to provide more information if necessary!

Nvidia have recently released a new major driver update 576.02 which appears to have potentially resolved these render/raster corruption issues in-app specific to systems with RTX 50 series cards, so we recommend updating to this latest driver version.

Your Drivers can be updated via either the following methods:

  1. Manually update via the Nvidia website, found here- https://www.nvidia.com/drivers/
  2. Via the Nvidia App found in the System Tray (bottom right hand corner of the taskbar). Once the Nvidia app is open, navigate to the ‘Drivers’ tab and update from here.

Once your drivers have successfully updated, reboot your machine and re-enable ‘Hardware Acceleration’ in the apps under Edit -> Settings -> Performance, restart the app and see how it goes moving forward.

Unfortunately this doesn't appear to have fixed the problem, for me at least. I was looking at this driver and installed it last night actually (so have shut off and started up my PC since). It apparently fixes a lot of issues with the 50 series, but loading up Affinity Photo 2.6.2 in the same project I did previously with hardware acceleration enabled causes my audio to lag a bunch (as it's loading the project, which happened before too), and then when it finishes loading up the project, I still get the same visual artifacting as shown above.

Thanks, looks like you're correct, this isn't completely fixed. I can no longer re-produce corruptions when opening and exporting basic flattened raster files, but attempting to work with any adjustment or filter layer immediately caused these render issues to appear again, similarly when opening .afphoto files containing these layers, I'll update internally.

Just did my first image on my new pc with RTX 5080. And ran into these issues. Also on 576.02 driver.

At first i didn't actually really have problems in the regular UI. I think it's because i only used crop and filters.

But as soon as i wanted to export the image to JPEG for online and used Billinear resample. I started getting all kinds of images with artifacts or just a lot of duplicates pasted over and over again. Going into Billinear and doing any resizing was the most consistent way of reproducing the issue.

Then tried out on my old PC with the same version to confirm that it was not the Affinity photo version or nvidia driver version. That is a 3050 card and everything worked fine.

I have just tried disabling the hardware render and that seems like an okay workaround.

I have the same issue in Affinity Photo with a 5070Ti, even with Nvidia driver v576.02 running latest Windows 24H2 10.0.26100 Build 26100.  I've tried reinstalling the Nvidia driver with no change.  Had to temporarily turn off hardware acceleration in AF to make things work again.  I'm hoping AF can fix this soon.

I also see many occurrences of this in the Event Viewer - time correlated to the issues in AF:

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event: 

\Device\000000df
Error occurred on GPUID: 200

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

Yep, getting this too on my RTX 5080, latest nVidia drivers (576.28).

Try disabling your integrated graphics card.

@AiDon  Integrated graphics are disabled by default on all modern uefi bioses (last 6+years) when there is a discrete GPU connected. At least this is the norm when it's not a laptop. If the integrated graphics card was there i would try to use that over the software one first as that also contains hardware accelerated image functions.
