I there is a way to maintain a colour - i.e. keep a colour from one file to another?

To explain I have created a graphic novel and am now colouring. Each page is a separate file. So  a character is wearing blue coat on page one and the same coat on page two. The colours need  to be the same.

The ink-dropper appears to be tied to its file. So going to page one and selecting the blue on the coat there and then going to page two hoping the colour is maintained does not happen.

Am I missing something? At the moment I'm selecting a portion of the coat copying, then pasting to page two, then using the ink-dropper on page two to select the colour.

I end up with a lot of swatches in new layers on the second page because the sky, grass, trees etc aslo need to be the same.

Thanks

Once you've finished colouring an illustration, you can choose "Create Palette from Document" in the Swatches panel's settings menu to get multiple swatches with 1 click.

Or you can merge/flatten and copy a finished illustration and use it as top layer in the next document for colour picking. To avoid this layer obscuring the work layers it may help to downscale it or place it in the pasteboard area. Depending on the Affinity application the details may be different.

Another workflow would be to colour multiple illustrations in 1 Affinity document (placed on separate pages, artboards, or Layers).

Create a Document Palette with all the colours you need for your comic. Whenever you use a new colour, add it to the palette. If there are a lot of them, you could create several different palettes, maybe one for backgrounds, one for costumes and so on. (Document Palettes are available for all docs you create and can also be linked so that you can use them in the other Affinity apps.)
