MikeTO Posted February 3 Posted February 3 The notes for 3089 state that exporting to PDF with tagging enabled is fixed but I'm still experiencing the issue with two of my three book-length documents. "An error occurred while exporting to..." I'm using the Digital HQ setting and disabling tagging allows me to export. Hangman Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Hi @MikeTO, I did quite a lot of testing around this issue at the time and found several triggers for the tagging-enabled export issue though all the 'known' triggers do appear to have been fixed in 3089 so this suggests another new trigger... I completely understand if you'd prefer not to but would you be happy to DM either or both documents (one may be sufficient as it may also apply to the other one) so I can take a look and identify the cause? If you're already on the case then no problem at all, though it would definitely be good to know what is triggering this again with your documents... Hangman Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Hi @MikeTO, The export issue, bizzarly, appears to be caused or related to having multiple sidenotes on an indivual page... MikeTO Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Thank you! I don't think this is too bizarre but I'd have wasted hours trying to figure it out otherwise. The issue is with the child frames used for sidenotes and footnotes, and also for endnotes positioned at the end of the story which uses child frames, too. It doesn't matter if the notes are attached to a master frame or a frame on a document page. Here's your document again reduced even further but it's unnecessary. Create a doc, add 2 footnotes, sidenotes, or endnotes (in story) to the same page, export, and it will throw the error. Hangman Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Thanks for the feedback, I’d not tested other than with sidenotes based on your document but it makes sense it applies to footnotes and endnotes so thanks for confirming… I’ll take a look at your revised sample document in the morning and run some further tests… MikeTO 1 Quote Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 Affinity Designer Beta 2.6.0.3125 | Affinity Photo Beta 2.6.0.3125 | Affinity Publisher Beta 2.6.0.3125 MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse

Hangman Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Hi @MikeTO, Just a quick update to this bug... Further testing reveals the order in which Footnotes, Sidenotes and Endnotes are hidden matters... With the attached file, if you toggle the layer visibility off for Footnote, Sidenote or Endnote 2 the file exports without issue. Repeat for Footnote, Sidenote or Endnote 1 and the file will error... MikeTO Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 I can't replicate any crash (did you mean the error and not crash)? I can export it with either footnote 1 or 2 visible, it's just with both I can't export. Hangman Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I did mean error… I still had both endnotes toggled on, my mistake.
