I am trying to design a document with a third party font. Whenever I add a text area, capital letters and spaces have an outline added around them. This only happens using Affinity Publisher, no other applications seem to have this problem. All text decorations appear to be off. Is there any way to resolve this?

Hi @gedc and welcome to the forums,

Can you confirm what the font is? If it's a freely available font, can you provide a link to it so we can take a look?

Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7
Affinity Designer Beta 2.6.0.3106 | Affinity Photo Beta 2.6.0.3106 | Affinity Publisher Beta 2.6.0.3106

Looks like Contextual Alternates is turned on--which, if available in that font, is turned on by default. If so, open the Typography Panel with the text selected and uncheck the setting for Contextual Alternates:

If that is the issue, turn them off in the paragraph style. If that isn't the issue, as mentioned, please let us know what font is being used and please provide a screen shot of the Typography Panel.

I don't see an option for contextual alternates available, I've attached a screenshot of the typography section.

The font is PP Neue Montreal Mono from Pangram Pangram. It is available to download to test here. I am using the medium weight font and only have that weight installed.

Their non-monospaced version, Neue Montreal, works just fine. It's just this specific font. This issue persists across multiple computers.

Try turning off all 3 of the Positional Alternate selections with the text selected.

That fixed it, thank you!
