Stern1 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Hi Can someone at Affinity please deal with a long-standing issue with loading documents to Publisher and the annoying error message at the top that says "Loading 1 Document". It's infuriating! I'm using a Mac desktop with Sonoma 14.6.1. I am also loading from iCloud, which may be the problem. Attached screenshot.Screenshot 2025-01-24 at 14.59.41.pdfScreenshot 2025-01-24 at 14.59.41.pdfScreenshot 2025-01-24 at 14.59.41.pdf This problem shouldn't be, as it is very common to store files on iCloud and Affinity should address this problem and not force us to store files on a hard disk because they can't sort out the iCloud problem. Surely there is by now an easy fix, because it is driving me mad waiting for a document to load, which can take hours! Come on Affinity ... sort it out, please! No one has time to waste waiting for documents to load. It should be instantaneous, like every other App. Keith Watts Quote
R C-R Posted January 24 Posted January 24 If you are loading from iCloud (not recommended, as you probably already know) then if the connection to the iCloud server is slow or it is busy updating something, then of course there will be a delay. But more importantly, the Affinity apps are designed such that they need continuous access to the file for both loading & storing changes made to them, which is why there is no easy fix for this. If you can't wait or can't or are unwilling to work on locally stored copies then you really need to consider switching to a different product. BTW, for me, loading anything in my iCloud is never instantaneous -- large files can take 10-15 seconds to download, even though I have a very fast internet connection. Staff NathanC Posted January 27 Staff Posted January 27 Hi @Stern1, This is an issue that's still outstanding with the developers, I'd recommend following the guidance in the FAQ below to disable the 'iCloud drive' in System Settings for each of the Affinity apps. This shouldn't prevent opening files from iCloud but should hopefully improve the loading speed. Quote
Stern1 Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 Thank you! The advice you attached worked great! Just wants Affinity to sort out the root problem with iCloud now. Quote
