nasu wong Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I used the Vector Flood Fill Tool and set the Fill Mode to Knockout. When filling colors on the iPad, it creates new dummy layers. Why? I tried this on the desktop version and didn't encounter this issue. Thanks. objectDummy.mp4 Quote
Brian_J Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I’m not very familiar with the Vector Flood Fill tool, but the behavior shown in your video is what I would expect. The tool is creating a fill based on multiple objects, so I would think the only way to do that would be to create a new layer. If you want to remove the areas where the objects intersect, the Shape Builder tool may be a better option. Quote Windows 10 22H2, 32GB RAM | Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 (MSI/EXE)
nasu wong Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 @Brian_J No, I don't want to remove the areas. When using the Vector Flood Fill Tool and setting it to "Knockout" mode, it automatically removes the areas we specify. What I'm asking is that it shouldn't be necessary to create a new dummy object layer, like it works in the desktop version. Quote

The Vector Flood Fill tool seems to work the same for me on Windows and iPad apps. Can you record a video on your computer showing how the tool functions differently than it does on the iPad? nasu wong Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 @Brian_J You'll notice that in the Window version, it doesn't create a new dummy object layer like on iPad. objectDummyA.mp4 Brian_J 1 Quote

Now I see what you're saying. I'm using AD 2.5.7 on Windows and the Vector Flood Fill Tool functions the same way it does on iPad — the new Curves layers with no fill/stroke that are duplicates of the original objects are automatically created. I'm not aware of any AD settings that would have an effect on this. Maybe someone else will have an idea of what's going on. Which version of Designer are you using on your computer? nasu wong 1 Quote Windows 10 22H2, 32GB RAM | Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 (MSI/EXE)

You're using the Beta desktop version, that issue/bug was fixed in the Beta nasu wong and Brian_J 2 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
