darker transparent checkerboard

the transparent checkerboard background is too light. so why not add the option to changes it, on my screen, it appears 100% white unless I do a box select.
why is it no options to changes this?
Also, Gimp has this option and it that works, better then an application I did buy, this is too bad.

Simply add your own temporary fill layer at the bottom of the layer stack and make the canvas any colour you like is one option, adjust this layers opacity to adjust the checkerboards appearance.

Check the brightness and contrast settings on your monitor.

Note: If you are doing design work that will be shared/sold to others this should be set to auto or you should calibrate your screen professionally
