WeronikaSalach Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Hello, I wanted to reach out for help regarding using the vector flood fill tool, as I came across some difficulties. I get an error message "calculations failed". I created a flower of life composition from circles, converted to curves, only the outlines, no fill, just stroke. From what I understand, the fill tool should be working as all my shapes are closed overlapping objects. Could anyone possibly give me advice on what I might be doing wrong? My goal is to fill out the shapes between those outlines in color, to create a stained glass effect. Sadly the Divide operation is also not working. Thanks for any advice! Wera Quote
Staff Lee D Posted January 21 Staff Posted January 21 @WeronikaSalach We do have this issue logged with our developers. Would you be able to provide a copy of your file that I can include with the report? Quote
Darner Posted March 22 Posted March 22 @WeronikaSalach @Lee D Hey. Noticed that calculation process of AD can be very demanding for your Mac / Pc, sometimes even get stuck in calculating process when having multiple simple shapes. I'd guess the issue will occur particularly in the design you show. Have tried same design sometimes, and there is apparently some more underlying issue in this specific context. Affinity Designer does not manage to draw 100% round circles. This becomes relevant, when you multiply elements or circles around circles. It creates small small gaps as circles are not 100% symmetric, even though Transform numbers say so. These small gaps become a part of the calculation, which adds an unnecessary amount of elements to calculate. You can see a lot of unnecessary small gaps if you zoom in a bit extra where the circles meet. Have notified Affinity / Serif earlier about this issue of circles not being 100% round. It is not much of a visual issue looked from afar, but can become an issue in other cases than just visual, like here where you are duplicating circles around circles, and then use Flood Fill and or Geometry tools. Might be that the calculation capacity has somewhat been improved in latest update. However, if you still encounter this issue, perhaps Merge Curves will help make the calculation issue a bit more easy on your computer: Layer - Geometry - Merge Curves. Hope this helps! Quote
evision1 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 I am also seeing Calculations Failed when selecting up to 3 objects, then clicking on the Vector Fill tool, then the Calculations Failed diag pops up. Quote
