I'm creating a bunch of cards that use colored symbols to represent a resource in game (Magic the Gathering, if you're familiar). These symbols are all going into a table, and to make it easier on myself I'm using a letter code that I'm then using Find and Replace to replace with the symbol images.

It works mostly fine (it's a little slow) if I do it one-by-one, but if I click "replace All" it deletes all of the text and puts ONE image in.

In the attached video you can see that I'm replacing all of the Rs with a fireball symbol. The first thing I do is use Replace All, it kills all of the symbols except one. The second time I'm clicking "Replace" every time and it replaces them all just fine.

Hi @Demonskunk,

In general, this appears to be working but could you upload one of the sample cards so we can see what may be different with your file setup?

I'm not sure the best way to just get one card without accidentally scrubbing something from the file that could be important. I saved it as a package. It gave me an error but still produced... a package, so I'm posting that. Let me know if there are any problems with it.

Edit: I uploaded a package with no issues.

Hi @Demonskunk,

Many thanks for the files...

This does appear to be a bug... there are several issues with pinned objects both floating and inline. I've been looking to see if this particular issue has already been reported and logged but I've not found anything matching this particular behaviour...

I thought this may be table-specific but it also happens when using a simple text frame...

Based on the character spacing after the numbers it looks as though the inline objects are replacing the 'R' character when using Replace All but they're just not visible in the layers panel or on the page...

The same happens when using a shape created in Publisher so it's not specific to PNG files...

There also appears to be an issue when unpinning the objects which can lead to Publisher crashing...

In addition, it appears that you can't use Find and Replace to do this on Windows, the Replace Field doesn't accept the Inline object...

Someone from the moderation team should hopefully pick this up and log the issue accordingly...

I hope it's something that can be fixed!

Also I'd like to formally request that pinned images be added to the Find/Replace functionality, because that's something that's going to be very useful to me for future projects.

My assumption, rightly or wrongly, is that this already exists since it works on Mac but is a bug on Windows where it doesn't appear to be supported...

I tested the UTF-8 versions of the Mana icons which of course work without issue on their own but not when nested inside an ellipse if using Replace All but I couldn't locate a version of the fireball symbol in a circle (likely because there isn't one)... If one existed that could be coloured (sadly CSS isn't currently supported in the Affinty apps) I think that would work and be the perfect solution...

It appears though that the issue is with any inline object, even a simple shape created within Publisher... Undoing the Replace All action twice also causes Publisher to crash...
