Configuration: Macbook Pro M2, 16 GB RAM 1 TB SSD, Sequoia 15.1.1, Photo 2.5.7

Situation: Infrequently, while editing a JPEG, the menus for the Live Filter Layers begin showing abnormal behavior after performing quite a lot of editing steps. When I click on the layer button to open the menu for that layer, the menu blinks open and then very rapidly disappears. This makes them unusable as they are only open for an instant. This is new behavior starting with the latest version, 2.5.7. In the attached "afphoto" file, when the behavior started, all 3 Live Filter Layers - Shadows/Highlights, Noise Reduction, and Unsharp Mask - began displaying the behavior. I suspect it took a lot of editing steps to make this happen and something became "overwhelmed". I was trying to get the colors corrected and had tried a lot of settings before it started. The "non-live" layer menus all continue to work as they should, including the "Luminosity" Live Mask Layer which is used with two of the "non-live" layers in this example. I've had this happen when editing other files and layer configurations, but it is only the Live Filter Layers that go "haywire". Note - that attached JPEG is the unedited version of the photo.

Workaround: I can recover by saving the "afphoto" file, closing it, and then reopening it. It appears all the menu settings in place for the all Live Filter Layers before the behavior started are properly saved. So, not a fatal flaw - falls into the "irritating" category. Unfortunately, that means if you open the attached "afphoto" file, all will be normal. I have no idea how to recreate this problem in a systematic manner.

Next time, can you make a full-screen video just before you need to recover the APhoto file, showing what is happening?

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I am seeing a pattern. If I make a very large number of manipulations to the settings in the "Selective Color Adjustment" layer menu, this problem with the Live Filter Layer menus seems to occur. One other thing of note, and perhaps not relevant, I use a macro to load all the layers after opening the JPEG image. I found this set of layers to be the common set required for this particular group of scanned film images (which were in terrible shape due to a camera problem - Affinity, a great product, vastly improves these images).

Well, the image of the church interior in the video I sent is actually from an ancient digital camera, but the same thing occurred. The first image with the street lamp is scanned film. So the problem is not due to something inherent to the Nikon Film Scanner I used. I hope this helps.

Hi @MLKIefer,

This is happening because you have the White Balance Picker selected in the White Balance Adjustment Layer. If you select the Move Tool from the Tools panel clicking the Live Filter Layers in the Layers panel will keep the respective dialog windows open...
