Background colour for text boxes

Where/how do I place a background colour in a text box?

When you say “text box” do you mean an Artistic Text layer or a Frame Text layer?

Do you mean a background colour for the text or a background colour for the whole layer area?

And which Affinity application(s) do you have? (The method may be different for each.)

Do you really mean Windows or just the Window (no plural) menu? Also, AFAIK the Text Frame panel is only available in Affinity Publisher feature, so if the OP is not running APub it won't be available in that submenu.
