More help please as I continue to struggle with this program.

I just placed a two-page document into a larger document. It's double-spaced and I have tried reducing here

as well as under the Text, Leading section. Nothing makes it change. I don't see anything locked. Any ideas?

Is the text selected (highlighted) when you do that?

Possibly you have a Leading Override specified in the Character panel?

Possibly. I can't find one though. I found a clunky workaround but it was frustrating.

Do you mean that you looked at the Character panel and it did not have a Leading Override set, or that you looked but don't see the field at all, or ???

What workaround did you use?

If you mean you could not find the Character Panel, look in the Window > Text submenu to see if it is enabled. If it is visible but you can't find the Leading Override field in it, make sure the Position and Transform section is expanded & it should be the 4th item on the left in that section.

You all have been amazingly helpful. I'd like to give you credit in the acknowledgements section of my book. If so, can you message me and tell me that's OK, and what name to use. I expect this book will (not) be a best seller, with a circulation in the tens of thousands, er, maybe twenty books.

No acknowledgement needed for my contribution here, Robin, but if you want to Walt Farrell is fine :)

By the way, to "tag" a user, and notify them if they have their options set to do that, you would type an @ sign and then type a part of their username, which will give you a dropdown list to select from. Select from the list, and you'll get a highlighted field like @Robin G13

My workaround was tohighlight the text and then scroll through all the preset styles and see one that was the right spacing and then set the other attributes and save as a new style.

Ah, thanks. Like social media. But when I typed in your users names into the message  it gave me a link to you, so I thought that was the way to do it.

Under Text, I see Character Traits but that has subheads of bold, italic, underline and strikethrough. Not sure where to find Position and Transform as it's not an option under Text or a subhead under anything in Text that I can find.

I am talking about the Window menu, not the Text menu. The Window menu has a Text submenu, in which there is a Character item. if that is not enabled (has no checkmark) then enable it to open the Character panel. That's the panel that has the Position and Transform section with the Leading Override item in it.

BTW, it is common in this forum to refer to menu items by separating their items & subitems with > or → symbols, so for example this would be written as Window > Text > Character.
