mmahmoodh Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Can anyone tell me how to do the channel selection on only the bright areas or the dark areas. I want to try to do the tutorial shown in the video in affinity photo 2. Thanks in advance. Quote

Next time please provide a Timecode of the relevant section (here roughly 09:00) In Affinity, a live luminosity mask will do the trick. mmahmoodh 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. NotMyFault Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Trying to translate those Piximperfect tutorials (from PS to Affinity) doesn’t make much sense. There are extremely detailed explaining the Photoshop specific functions and UI like keyboard shortcuts, navigating in the menu etc, and are poor in explaining the overall workflow and creative concept. In Photo, you would typically choose a totally different workflow to achieve the same result. 90% of PI tutorials are explaining PS specific usage which is distracting for Affinity users. If you want to learn how to edit in Affinity, try to find tutorials covering the same topic in Affinity. I don’t want to talk bald about Piximperfect, he has a great channel for Photoshop users and the level of detail is good for beginners who are on a „drawing by numbers“ level and help them to get familiar with PS. But for Affinity, you need to unlearn 90% of the content and learn the Affinity style. mmahmoodh 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. carl123 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 There are numerous Affinity specific tutorials on YouTube to add patterns to fabric. Listed below are 4 of them The 1st one specifically mentions luminosity masks. The second is just 3 minutes long but all are worth watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5YffWf92cc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZHTs5e_Ne4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uxslCKnEaI mmahmoodh and NotMyFault 1 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. I’m not an Adobe user and have been using Affinity for over 4 years now. However, since Photoshop tutorials cover a wide range of techniques, I try to recreate them in Affinity to learn different methods. I’ve successfully recreated the process in Affinity, but I wanted to confirm if my workflow is correct or if there’s a more efficient method. Trial.afphoto NotMyFault 1 Quote
