I'm having an issue with something and I'm hoping maybe someone can help. Maybe I'm just missing something.
I have a line drawing open in Pixel Persona. I want to fill the "ink" drawing with a colour.
I have the source set to "Current Layer & Below" (although I've tried this will all three options with the same results)
I've added a new pixel later over the ink layer, selected the bucket, selected a colour... and then clicked on it.
But it fills the entire space with the colour. I'm not sure why. No matter what I do, it just fills the whole screen.
I feel like I'm missing something.
I'm only using the desktop version at the moment. I have the latest version, and I'm on a Mac using the latest OS.
If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears!

First I will need some clarification about this statement:

What sort of lines? Are they Pixel Brush lines? Are they Vector lines? Are they Open or Closed?

Assuming the lines are vector lines and they are closed you could stay in the Designer Persona and use the Vector Flood Fill tool. Here are a couple of squiggles before and after using the Vector Flood Tool.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Hi, I'm sorry for this very late reply. I was away for the holidays, and then had some family issues that kept me busy for quite a while.

So...  I was working just in pixel persona. I wanted to draw freehand and not work with vector lines for this.
I'm still sort of thinking like Photoshop, or Clip Studio Paint.  I made a CLOSED circle with a pixel line, put down another layer and then clicked the "source" at the top to Current Layer and Below.
However......
All that being said, I am actually running into a LOT of bugs unfortunately. It's not just this, but there's issues with the tools (brush isn't working but I can used pixel tool with all the brush selections), and, well... there's a lot. Too much to even bother trying to list
I do appreciate you taking the time to answer but I think I might have to try redownloading the entire program unfortunately.

That will work as long as you have "Contiguous" ticked in the Context Toolbar. If not, the paint bucket will "fill" the screen

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Are you 100 percent sure they're bugs rather than incorrect tool settings? If Affinity Designer was really that buggy, chances are more people would have noticed this when trying to accomplish a similar task. That doesn't seem to be the case. If you describe what you tried to do, how you expected Affinity Designer to behave and what happened instead, people here in the forums might be able to tell you what went wrong and offer a solution.

Thanks so much. I think part of my issue is also finding it awkward putting the colour layer over the line layer instead of under it.
But I'm finding as I go there's a LOT of things not working as I think they should.
It's really hard to explain in text exactly what is actually going on. Some tools either don't work or are behaving oddly, and I'm sure it's something I just don't have set properly.
But I don't know exactly how to put it in simple terms. I might have to make a new post with photos or video if I can do that.
I'll keep digging through it though.

Cheers!
