UPDATED: Solved, tool was automatically on side bar, had to add from 'Customize Tools'

I heard about the new Machine Learning Object / Subject Selection today so promptly updated all the apps. Dove into Photo, installed the Machine Learning but no tool for the Object Selection appeared. Tried restarting Photo and restarting computer with no difference. Then opened Designer. No Object Selection there (maybe by design) then tried Publisher and, clicking on the Photo tab, the new Object Selection tool is there and working (as far as I tried it quickly so far). Why is it not showing up in the stand alone Photo?

Also, the "Subject Selection" under Select menu in Photo didn't work at all but in Publisher, Photo tab, it does, but not well, yet. It picked things that were clearly not the main subject.

Ok, the second time I tried it, I rasterised the image, selected the object, and it worked fine.  So rasterising is the key. Perhaps.

Although actually Crashing if it gets it wrong is a bit drastic.

Yes, it's there in Photo and NOT in Designer, so long as you have an Image in place. Oh, and not actually in Publisher unless you select the Photo persona...

Possibly you have modified your Tools layout in Photo, but didn't do that in the Photo Persona of Publisher?

If you have modified the Tools layout (View > Customize Tools) perhaps they don't add the Tool automatically to avoid disrupting your layout.

it just showed up naturally in Publisher -> Photo, an I had to download the engine that goes with it. It then worked.

When I went to stand alone Photo it was there and worked.

Although I’m not sure what use it is. I’ll reserve judgement on that.

Correct, thanks. While I don't recall modifying my Tools layout, the tool was in the Customize Tools option. Thanks again, I should have thought of that.

Now, that’s a nice surprise! I didn’t expected that, did a quick test and it works nice for a beta. Can’t wait to see it grow in quality!

Yes, I'm actually surprised they didn't do it sooner but very happy to see it here now. Not bad at all for beta, can only get better.
