MattShepherd
I'm trying to apply Outer Shadow to an element, so that the shadow radiates out on the lower right of the element. When I create the shadow, it is at Angle 135 (on the upper left of the element). When I adjust the shadow to reverse the angle, changing it to 315, it is still appearing on the upper left of the element. Current behaviour: Changing the "angle" of the shadow does not change the location of the shadow relative to the element. Expected behaviour: Changing the "angle" of the shadow will change the direction of the shadow radiating from the element, in the same direction as the line in the circle where the angle is adjusted. GarryP
It’s working for me too in Designer 2.5.5 on Windows, even when the layer has been rotated. Are you sure that the layer wasn’t rasterised? If the layer was rasterised without preserving Effects, maybe accidentally, and the Effect was therefore removed from the layer, changing the angle of the effect won’t do anything if the Effect is no longer applied. (I’m not giving imgur any cookie consents so I can’t see the images.)

MattShepherd
I'm trying to apply the shadow to a simple rectangle drawn in the program, which is underlying the more complex element. Here it is with the element moved to the right. This is just a rectangle shape drawn in Publisher. I'm not sure if it's rasterized or not rasterized. Changing nothing but the Angle number: at 315 -- At 135: The .afpub file is attached. Thanks for your collective help here! 2024-07-17_Chess-Journey.afpub
carl123
You still have zero offset set which means the Angle setting is irrelevant. It must have some offset Also, since you appear to want a red shadow on a black surface that will not work with the Blend Mode set to Multiply, try setting it to Lighten or Hard Light etc Pšenda 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Pšenda
14 hours ago, MattShepherd said: Here it is with the element moved to the right As Carl writes and as you can see in my pictures, a non-zero Offset is necessary to set the direction of the shadow. In your case, when the Offset is zero, the shadow is cast evenly around the entire object, and only because it is not visible on a black background, it looks like it is cast at an angle of 315°.
