Can I export my Affinity Designer file to a file that can be opened from Adobe so she can use the vector of the Logo?

Recommended Posts

A client of mine doesn't use Affinity, only Adobe. I however made the Logo on Affinity Designer. I told her already, that the Logo I made for her (one with a background, one with a transparent one) is big enough and has good quality. She can use it for her flyers, posters etc. Its a good quality nonetheless. But she insisted to get an Adobe file... She is not as familiar as me when it comes to no-can-do's when it comes to files.

Yes - any vector format (PDF, EPS, SVG) or Adobe PSD.
However, depending on the type of logo, after export/import it is necessary to check if any elements/effects have been rasterized or if there have been other complications.

Clean outcomes can never be guaranteed but the most friendly cross Designer/Illustrator file is undoubtedly a PDF. As illustrator uses the PDF file as a part of its file structure you can change the extension form .PDF to .AI and it will open in Illustrator on an Adobe installed machine.

As Pšenda has pointed out non compatible styles will be rasterised. If you've ever tried to open a PDF and strip it or edit it Designer you'll know the kind of thing. Blends that can be created in Illustrator cannot be created in Designer and vice versa, so will rasterise as an image and exist within a vector clipping path, limiting scaling.

Vector geometry and flat colours will transfer just fine.

Thank you! But for some reason it doesn't let me export it as a PSD file :( What can I do?

Ohhh, I totally missed that! I'm sorry. And thank you! How can I change that?

You're welcome.

You will need to resize your document, and/or lower the DPI.

It seems surprising that you'd have a logo that big (> 30,000 px in dimension).
