NotMyFault
Hi, I tried to deactivate the double-tap setting, for Pen tool (not Pencil tool or node tool) but it has not the expected effect. When adding nodes by pen tool, any (accidental) double-tap closes the curves and starts a new one. No matter which option I select for pen tool, or if I deactivate it, a double-tap will always deselect the curve and startup new one. iPad M1 with Apple Pencil 2nd generation Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | Windows 10 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. walt.farrell
That setting is related to double-tapping on the flat side of the Apple Pencil, not to double-tapping with the point. Great, learned something. Never used this before. Affinity should really document better which gestures have which effect. double-tap on flat side: configurable in iPad settings (ignored by Affinity apps) and Affinity App settings (works) double-tab with pen tip on display: undocumented in help. Finishes a curve and starts a new one. This is exactly the same term „double-tap“ used in settings/pencil where you explained to me that is has nothing to do with double tap of tip but relates to double-tap of the invisible button of specifically Apple Pencil Gen 2 (not available in Gen 1). the absolute minimum of required language clarity would be to add for each mention of double-tap gesture if it relates to tab of pen tip on display, like for pen tool, available for every pencil, or (exclusive or) Tab on pen flat side sensitive area, not touching the display, available only for specific pen hardware Otherwise confusion of users is guaranteed. so double-tap of pen tip double-tab on pen flat side would be more specific and avoids the confusion. It is hard enough to distinguish between (virtual) pen and pencil tools vs. (physical) pencil devices, used in combination. Yes, the term is the same. The context determines the meaning, but could definitely be clearer. The Setting is for double-tap on the side of the Pencil 2. This usage in the Help specifically talks about double-tapping the node.
