Windows 10 for Designer 10, Windows 11 for Designer 2

A Designer 10 drawing containing a dotted line (units 0,3,0,3) would export to EPS without any problems. That EPS file when placed in Publisher 10 displayed correctly.

Opening that Designer 10 drawing in Designer 2 the dotted line displays correctly but it does not export to EPS; the file displays nothing.

When the EPS file, exported from Designer 10, is placed in a Publisher 10 document it displays correctly. That same file placed in Publisher 2 displays nothing.

When a Publisher 10 document containing the dotted line is opened in Publisher 2, the dotted line does not display, it has disappeared.

Is it caused by a bug or is there a setting that needs enabling?

Hi @4461 and welcome to the forums,

What do you mean by Designer 10? There is only Designer 1.X and 2.X...

Could you upload the problematic file so we can take a look...

Sorry, I meant the latest version of Designer 1.10.6 before Designer 2 was released. I upgraded to Affinity 2 universal licence  15 August 2024.

The attached file was created by exporting it from Designer 1.10.6. When it is opened in Designer 2.5 or placed in Publisher 2.5 the dotted grid lines disappear. When I export a similar drawing created in Designer 2.5 to EPS, the grid lines are missing.

Hi @4461,

Ah, okay, that makes more sense, thanks for confirming...

That is very strange, the dotted lines don't even appear as empty layers in the Layers Panel in the EPS file but are clearly contained in the file because if I convert the EPS to a PDF and then open the PDF in Designer 2.5.5 the dotted lines are there, albeit at 0.35 pt stroke weight with 0, 6, 0 spacing (see the attached file)...

Very strange indeed. The dotted line in my original Designer file is 0.4 pt stroke weight and spacing 0, 3, 0, 3.

The only way to get the dotted line to appear when exporting  to EPS is to select the pre set 'Flatten' which rasterises everything and rather defeats the objective. It would appear that the EPS export command in Designer 2.5 has a defect. What used to work in Designer 1.10 no longer does in 2.5.  Can this be rectified?

I'm guessing this is a bug...

If I create a new Designer document and add a series of dotted lines of varying weights, export to EPS and then open the EPS in Designer 2.5.5 it opens with an Empty Layer...

Hi 4461,

Welcome to the forums.

If possible please could you copy the dotted lines into a new .afdesign document and then send me a copy of it? Once I have a copy of the file I should be able to confirm the behaviour here and then log a bug report with our dev team.

Thanks
C

Hi @Callum,

Just installed Designer version 2.5.6 and I see dotted lines are still not supported in EPS export. I was hoping it would be fixed in this update.
