LilleG
Why is the Preview of the Noise Filter so vastly different from what you see when it is actually applied? What you see in the live preview at 40 or 50 percent is much, much more obvious than what you see when 100 percent is actually applied. Staff MEB Posted July 3, 2016 Staff Share Posted July 3, 2016 Hi LilleG, The filter is dynamic and varies a little with the zoom level (it's not totally consistent with the zoom). When applying it try to set the zoom to 100% to get an accurate result. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
LilleG
Ah! Thanks. That works. I hadn't realized that zoom would affect one but not the other.
Staff James Ritson Posted July 3, 2016 Staff Share Posted July 3, 2016 Have you tried previewing at 100% and then applying? The noise looks different if you're zoomed out less than 100% because the noise is being applied to what is essentially a different render or preview of your image. I believe some software (raw conversion) warns that certain filters or effects won't be previewed unless you view the image at 100% size or greater, for example noise reduction or defringing. Basically, Photo chooses to render filters regardless of preview size so you're always getting a preview. A bit divisive, perhaps, but for now the best way is to simply preview your filters at 100%. Hope that helps!
