Brem
I am writing eBooks with Affinity publisher and in 2020 I read a reply from Serif that the function is not launched yet. Now 4 years later it is still not launched yet. Yet is to my opinion not a 4 year time frame...... Anybody knows when this major, vital, essential conversion function for this dignified Publishing Software will be released? Now I try to convert my PDF, exported with Affinity, with Calibre to an ePub format. Whatever I do and try, it is a big mess. (even big is a too small word, it is a total mess). Did I do all the months writing for nothing? Does anybody know, if I should export in anothter format to obtain better results with Calibre or use another conversion program then Calibre??? I hope some good news will save my profession..... Thanks
walt.farrell
As Calibre documents, using fixed-format PDF for conversion to epub is not a good choice. And it is not something they recommend, though it is something they will try to accomplish. Serif generally does not comment on what functions are coming, nor on the timeframe they might arrive. So we users have no way of knowing, other than by watching the announcements of new function when major beta releases are announced. There's a "new function" beta for Affinity 2.6 expected in October, for example, and then we'll find out what is coming next. Brem
Thanks Walt, Yes, I noticed this.... Fingers crossed that the ePub conversion will come in October, or this year. Serif will make if I speak for others, many happy customers and.....get many new ones....
PaoloT
1 hour ago, Brem said: I am writing eBooks with Affinity publisher By why? Publisher can't export to ePub, or any intermediate file format helping with ePub generation in a dedicated app. Wouldn't you be better using a program that can end up in an ePub? What's been announced is an export feature for fixed-size eBooks. So, reflowable ePubs will be, in the better case, a couple years away. Brem
Hi Paolo, Yes, I am looking now for such a program. Not easy to find though.....
KarinC
Atticus (atticus.io) is considered to be a good one. A bit pricey but does everything you need for epub.
Bryan Rieger
@Brem if you're on macOS and have some budget, Vellum is a fantastic option for creating reflowable ePubs (and PDF output ready for print). Another great cross-platform alternative ePub creator is Sigil, which when combined with PageEdit provides a decent WYSIWYG authoring experience. 🤞Fingers crossed we hear some positive news on ePub support in Publisher from Serif soon. Brem
Thanks all for the good tips. I use Windows but will Investigate these programms...... InDesign is for me pricy and seems not easy to learn....
