Suggestion: Change default Body font

Recommended Posts

I’d really like to be able to change the default body font of new projects from Ariel to a Serif (Times New Roman) font.

Without having to change it each time I begin a new project.

In Publisher particularly, this is the default on opening a new document.

Because i’m requesting the option to set the default in Settings/Preferences and not have it fixed at all.

It’s not ‘fixed’ at the moment.

Create a new document, go to the Text Styles Panel, change the Base style to the font you want to use (and/or do whatever other changes you want to do), then click on the ‘hamburger icon’ at the top-right of the panel and choose “Save Styles as Default”.

The next time you create a new document you should be using the font you want.

You didn’t mention that at all in your original post.

I don’t know what I’m supposed to be looking at in the video, and the video is for the iPad which I don’t use, so I can’t tell you how to do what I suggested earlier but on an iPad rather than desktop, but someone else should be able to.

If you're not using Text Styles, then:

  1. Create a Text Frame. Set the font you want.
  2. From the Document menu (3 bars), choose Defaults > Synchonize from Selection.
  3. Create an Artistic Text object. Set the font you want.
  4. From the Document menu, choose Defaults > Synchronize from Selection.
  5. From the Document menu, choose Defaults > Save.
