I'm new to Affinity Designer; I used Illustrator as a garphic design student, but I've forgotten everything since then unfortunately.

I'm looking to start my own business selling digital stationary. I want to create realistic assets like: sticky notes, tape, stickers (I added pics below for reference). I don't know where to start on making them, so I though I'd ask for some help here.

Also, I want to use realistic paper textures. Every time I try, it doesn't seem to come out the way I want it to. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

If you are new to designing, with Affinity Designer, I would recommend trying to duplicate some of the things you are trying to create first so you get an idea of the tools you have available and how they can assist you. In the example file attached I recreated the grey Page Flag, just by using shapes already available in Designer, as follows...

1. First, I created a Rectangle Shape
2. I then added a Pie Shape and adjusted the nodes to get a semi-circle shape
3. The shadow was first created with a Triangle Shape (coloured grey) and I then added a Live Gaussian Blur Filter to it.
4. Finally, I added a gradient (using the Gradient Tool) to the Rectangle Shape to give it some depth.

Bear in mind you can't (and shouldn't) just copy other people's work but you can practice recreating them. Then given time you can start designing you own versions of what you are trying to achieve by using the skills you have now learnt.

If you get stuck on how a particular element of a design was made you can always post back for more assistance

My Designer file is also attached to this post

Glad to see you have great observational skills, Garry. I am fully aware that I posted this question in June but, I didn't receive any help. So yes, I reposted the same question, to 'bump' it back to the 'top of the pile'. And... it worked. Thank you for your advice, Carl123. I'll definitely try that.

As I said above, you didn’t need to post the whole thread again, just posting to an existing thread brings it back to the top of the list.

Since you didn’t get any replies to the earlier thread you might like to think about hiding it so that other people looking for the same advice don’t have to look for/at multiple threads about the same thing.
