Getting Tired of Playing Hunt the File

Recommended Posts

I've written about this pet peeve before, but today, it is pushing me over the edge, and that is when exporting files, they save in the LAST folder into which a file was exported rather than the CURRENT folder for the file being worked on.

I'm currently working on laying out four books and also working on the cover designs, and the exported file not defaulting to the current fold is driving me nuts. Other products I work with save the save as and exported files back to the current folder. I don't understand why Affinity products are incapable of this. At least, make it a user preference.

In my case, it becomes particularly maddening when working on multiple projects. If I'm working on a project in folder A, why can't the export be saved back to folder A, the same folder the file was opened from?

Many users have been repeatedly asking for that option for a decade. Serif's stubbornness now looks downright weird.

Not so easy to really use but I was happy when I noticed in the File menu an item Reveal/Show in Finder. At least, I have now a way to retrieve where a file comes from… Then a drag'n'drop on the Save dialog and it's getting better.

I apologise for any approximations in my English. It is not my mother tongue.
