ryan.fitzgerald Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Hi there! Im new to affinity photo and was wondering if this kind of effect is achievable in Affinity Photo? Thanks Quote
firstdefence Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Yes You can use the recolour filter, the lens filter in Affinity is more of a tinter than a dramatic change of colour. In the recolour filter just ramp up the saturation slider to 100% and drop the lightness slider to about -50 to get a comparable look. ryan.fitzgerald 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... GarryP Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Welcome to the forums @ryan.fitzgerald I haven’t watched the video but the result shown in the ‘title screen’ looks like it can be achievable with a Recolour Adjustment – see attached image. ryan.fitzgerald 1 Quote
firstdefence Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 You can also get some cool looks using a Fill Layer and layer blend modes. To get a similar look to the video you can. Create a fill layer: Layer > New Fill Layer Change the fill layer to red using the colour panel. Change the blend mode to Colour Burn. ryan.fitzgerald 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... GarryP Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Using the Colour Burn Blend Mode doesn’t seem to affect the sky in the same way as the given example when I try it (depending on the shade of colour). But the Linear Burn Blend Mode does, and it also works with a filled Rectangle instead of a Fill Layer (though either can be used). (I’m working with a screen-grab from the video ‘title screen’ so that could make a difference.) ryan.fitzgerald 1 Quote

Hi @GarryP you are right, the sky does appear to change dependant upon the colour selected, linear burn is a good option, although, even linear burn changes the colour a bit compared to the sand. I suppose it's to be expected really but it's least noticeable when using red, green and blue (RGB). I think the recolour filter is the way to go and add a levels adjustment to get it looking punchy. BlueLiner Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Another method you might want to try is to add a black & white adjustment and gradient map adjustment. It gives a good deal of control by simply changing the black and white filter settings. Play around with the B&W adjustment tweaking CYAN, RED, and YELLOW in particular. You can really bring out the texture of the sand or sky. Quote
