I have a lot of product photos that I need to export in different sizes.
Important: each size has its own folder named as followed:

- PNG HD (original size)
- JPEG 1000x1000px
- WEBP 1000x1000px
- PNG 500x500px
- JPEG 1000x1000px

Here is my actual workflow in Photoshop,
01 / I import all the photos related to the same product.
02 / I remove the background of each product and retouch it as needed.
03 / Then "File -> export -> Layers to files" in original file size and PNG format inside the "PNG HD" folder.
04 / Then, I create a script where I resize the image, save it in one specific format and folder, resize it again, save it in a different format and folder, etc...
05 / Once my script is ready, I use "File -> Automated -> Batch" to apply that script to all the desired images.
06 / And bam! each time, all my photos are saved accordingly within minutes!

Right now, in Affinity Photo I am stuck at step 04...
When I create a macro, I can record the resizing but I'm not allowed to record WHERE I want that image to be saved.
I get the following message -> Macro recorder, Cannot record "Export item"

I've tried using Export Persona (in both Designer and Photo) but:
- I cannot choose different paths for each slice
- It does not allow me to batch from a folder
- I must create then copy/paste the export setup each time

How can I perform this task in Affinity Photo (or Designer) as efficiently as Photoshop?

Thanks!

I use Affinity Suite mainly for graphic design (product label, poster, banner, logo, guidelines, reports).
I'm also interested in video editing (Davinci Resolve), 3D for mockups and various concepts (Blender).

Try Export Persona.

In same drive isn't problem.

Pšenda,

Thanks for the link :-)

I've learned that I can write the path manually so indeed, exporting in different folders is possible :-)

I've also saved my preset so I guess that works okay.

Now the last question is: How do I process the next 1000 photos automatically?

Forget my last question :-)
I need to stop thinking the Adobe way ;-)

I'll explain the steps I will follow for whoever needs it.
Normally I would tend to go with Affinity Photo because it is the equivalent of Photoshop but I like the artboard layout in Designer.

01/ "File -> New" with the amount of artboard needed.
02/ "File -> place" each photo.
03/ "Pixel Persona" -> to remove all their background and retouch the colors as needed.
04/ "Export persona" -> to apply my saved preset and then export all the images at once in their dedicated folders.

DONE!

Another huge advantage of using Affinity is the files size. I'm always baffled to see how much smaller the Affinity files are.

I really enjoy the smoothness of the Affinity softwares and I'm figuring out this new workflow so I will push it on my team mates.
The goal is to get rid of Adobe!

Hopefully, this thread will help others :-)

Thanks again Pšenda.

Actually, my last question is still something I might have to do one day.

Let's say, over time, I've exported all my photos in those 5 formats above.
For exemple, I have now a list of 100 Designer file containing 10 photos each -> 1000 photos.
Now I need to export a new size / format to a new dedicated folder.

As I think of it, I would have to open these 100 Designer file one after each other to be able to export only 10 photos each time.
That would be quite cumbersome and non productive.

Is there a way to use these 1000 PNG HD images and process them to the desired new [size / format / custom path] all at once ?
In Photoshop I would create a new Action, then I would do a batch using the folder "PNG HD".

Thanks!

Perhaps using the Batch job function under 'File' in Photo 2 would work for this? You'd need to do this on the original image or an already processed one as using an artboard document as a part of a Photo Batch job will just merge the artboards onto a single image. If you can record your workflow steps into a macro it is possible to apply the macro as a part of the Batch job.

Hello Nathan,

You are right. I can do 4 separated batches, one for each size. It's better than opening each Designer file indeed.

Again, I was thinking the Adobe way, trying to export all at once.

That's close enough to what I need even though in an ideal world (for my case) I wish I could:

- Add more fields so I could export my 2 jpgs sizes within the same batch (1000x1000 and 150x150).
- But I would also need to have a custom output option for each format.

Then that would be super efficient, for my specific case :-)

Cheers
