A--
Created a document with Publisher 2.5 Inserted a footnote and selected it Tried to use the Notes panel to create a new style for the marker (number text) I was able to select "New..." but the TextStyles panel didn't open Clicking anywhere else, the setting returned to [No Styles] I was able to do this Select the marker in the body text Select "New..." in the bar above the window TextStyle panel opens and allowed creation of a new FootNoteMarker character style When I click on marker or footnote body, the Notes panel shows the new style, but clicking on New... again doesn't do anything. The text label "New..." is not dimmed, but the little a+ shape is. And clicking on it, does move "New.. " into the entry field (i.e. confirming selection in the drop down). (Note: the selection "Edit FootNoteMarker" does work.) Seems like a bug to me. (Windows 11). Expected: Either the TextStyles panel opens same as after selecting it at the top of the window frame Or, the grayed entries can't be selected at all (or even better, are left out altogether, if never active) If entries are not available, the text should look dimmed for better user feedback. walt.farrell
I had never tried New... from the Notes panel, but I agree it doesn't work in 2.5.0, though it does in 2.4.2. So yes it seems like a bug. MikeTO
It does work on macOS, so this must be Windows specific. I imagine it was broken in 2.5 with the redesign of the text style editor. Does Edit work in that same list? Is the other Number Style > New option broken, too? (There's one for main text and one for note body.) Is the Endnote > Title Style > New option broken, too? If it's broken in the Notes panel on Windows, it may also be broken everywhere else there's a style list with a New command in the popup menu. Drop Caps, Initial Words, Bullets and Numbering, and Insert Cross-Reference are the others I can think of off the top of my head.
