I just got all my folders that I'm working organised so I can easily work between them as a list on the Quick Access Panel in File Manager

However, every time I access this window to File Manager through the File > Export or Save function AND I want to change to a different folder I have to scroll up to the top of the bar on the left to find Quick Access because by default itshows the Drive I'm using as highlighted which is (even though I have a Quick Access button for that too) down the bottom

This completely negates the whole point of "quick access" at least through the portal though Affinity software as it takes me just as much time to find the folder going through the Drive etc

Is there a workaround to this I can do in Windows or possibly something that can be updated in the future to alleviate this minor first world problem

The only thing I can think of that can be done in Windows File Explorer is to disable the Expand to open folder option (I'm assuming it's enabled on your computer).

With Expand to open folder disabled, when saving a file, the initial focus in the Navigation Pane won't drill down into your folder structure. You'll likely still have to scroll up some, but not as much.

To change the 'Expand to open folder' option:

  1. In the Windows File Explorer ribbon:
    • Windows 11 - Click the 3-dot icon and select Options.
    • Windows 10 - Select View. Click Options in the ribbon.
  2. In the Folder Options dialog, click the View tab.
  3. In the Navigation pane section, disable Expand to open folder.

I feel your pain about navigating to Quick access when saving a file. Nonetheless, I find it more convenient to keep 'Expand to open folder' enabled so I can quickly see my folder structure when saving a file.
