Linda1983 Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Hello, I am trying to get away from Adobe and have begun using Affinity Photo. I had an earlier version that worked fine but last year I moved to a new Mac (Mac Mini M2Pro) and bought a Canon R6 Mk II and all images are purple. Any idea what this is and how I can fix it? Thanks very much. Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. The Canon EOS R6 is supported by Affinity Photo V1, but the Canon EOS R6 Mk II is not supported. That probably explains your problem. If you were to upgrade to V2, that camera would be supported, but it will probably never be supported in V1. Linda1983 Posted April 21, 2024 Author Posted April 21, 2024 Well, then I have a problem, because Affinity tells me I am up to date. How do I update to v. 2? Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 V2 is a separate program, requiring a new purchase. V1 has been stabilized, and is not being updated except for major issues caused by changes to the OS. Linda1983 Posted April 21, 2024 Author Posted April 21, 2024 (edited) Aah, I was just typing this: Also not quite understanding why v. 1.10.8 wouldn't include support for the Canon R6II. The camera was launched a year ago! And Affinity Photo v. 1.10 still runs on Ventura as well as Sonoma, so why is the camera not supported? Unless one is to purchase v. 2, then it does make sense: Affinity forces us to upgrade. Thanks for the confirmation. I'll pass and look elsewhere. walt.farrell Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 You do have the option, on a Mac, of using the Apple Raw Engine instead of the Serif Engine. You can change that in the Assistant Settings, by clicking the button to set the Develop Assistant Settings. You might see if that helps. You also have the option of using the Adobe DNG Converter to create a RAW file that Affinity Photo should be able read, or Canon’s own DPP software if you’re happy to develop your images separately before opening them in Affinity Photo. walt.farrell 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
Linda1983 Posted April 21, 2024 Author Posted April 21, 2024 Oh my, switching to the Apple Raw engine fixed it! Thank you very much! walt.farrell and Alfred 2 Quote
