Publisher import exel file

Welcome to the forum @Štefan Szabó, great that you joined.
Sadly I must disappoint you and tell you that this cannot be achieved currently, at least i don't see an easy way that does not require clever approaches and workarounds.
Even if you decide to use them, there is a good chance that your effort will not be rewarded with a good layout (visual aspect) and that subsequent editing will be easy and pleasant (practical effect).

The main reason for what i was said above is that currently you can't span tables across pages.
This functionality has not been introduced yet in APub (Affinity Publisher).

If you place an xlsx file wchich holds 600 row spreadsheet, APub will create an single table that size would be to big for the page it sits on.
One giant table overflowing the page — not nice, and probably not how you want.

You can try some workarounds, but the only thing I can think of is to use "Data Merge", feed it with spreadsheet data, then force it to create tables on as many A4 pages as needed to represent all the data from spreadsheet. "Data merge" has the ability to duplicate spread/pages as many times as needed until the data records are processed and presented. But from what I've seen of what your spreadsheet looks like, it would need some extra tweaking before you can mess around with the "Data Merging".

Štefan, I'm not writing all this to discourage you and disappoint you, just to let you know where you stand in this situation.
I hope that my comments made you at least a little more aware of what you are dealing with. Best regards, have a good day.

@anto, could you please take a look, if you have some free time of course, whether what the OP is asking for is even feasible using "Data Merge".
It seems to me that even data merging would not give a good result in this case🤔. But maybe I'm wrong. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is possible, but you need to take into account the height of the row of the table, because in Excel cells, the values that are in Publisher occupy 3-4 rows and they will not fit.
Another option is to create a text style before merging, so that after merging you can quickly change the size, color, alignment of all text.

I managed to notice it. And this is what irritates me the most, that the minimum height of the "Data Merge Layout" row must be at minimum as large to fit the values from Excel from rows with the larges amount of data. Because of this, the final look looks a bit strange. I mean gaps between rows with small amount of data and gaps between a row with large amount of data and a smaller row.

Thank you for your help, advice👍 and for spending your valuable time @anto. Regards🙇

That's why I asked for the function of merging data in one frame, but who knows if this is a priority? (Catalog feature in MS WORD)

Or at least allow the table rows to automatically determine the height according to the cell content.

While this auto-row-height feature works with APub tables – regardless of whether text lengths, line or paragraph breaks require more line height and regardless of whether content is typed or pasted – the question "just" arises as to why it doesn't work when a table is used for Data Merge.
