After my first enthusiasm and after testing more serious things out, I find it quite annoying that I cannot really even correctly use other languages than EN in Publisher. I need to create documents in EN, FR, NL and DE. If this is not possible, the suite will be of no use to me. I read the help pages about orthography and switched publisher to french, but that doesn,t do the trick. My computer is correctly configured for the region I am in now (France). Did I overlook something?
If there is no solution, I'll have to consider asking for a refund. (also see the original attachment please.
Regards,
Jan

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @bolleboos.

Your text seems to be specified as being in "English as spoken in France", which may indicate you've changed your system region to France, but have left your keyboard set to English.

If you are intending to type in French, then you should set the Language of the text to French. You can do that with the Language section of the Character panel, where you can specify the Spelling language. Or you can do it using Text Styles, which is usually a better approach.

To solve your problem, you could copy the dictionaries you use (e.g. en-UK) and rename them accordingly to your country setting (en-FR).

I apologise for any approximations in my English. It is not my mother tongue.

Thanks walt.farrell and oufti for your replies. You gave lots of information, it will take more than 5 min. to digest it all.

But first I'll have to finish a few flyers before the deadline kicks in, and to save time I'll ask my older IMac back (still on High Sierra) from the friend I lent it to. It has the older CS 6 suite installed but I won't connect the machine to the Internet and use it offline to stay safe. I'll write some replies to your posts and share my opinion when I have finished.

P.S one last thing… I signaled two problems in fact, but one seems to have disappeared, I don't see it anymore (I'll come back to it later)

Have a nice day, bolleboos
