caruso john
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but every time I click on a spread in my Pages window, the spread appears off center, and the rule starts at -14 inches and ends at 31 inches (for a 17.5" spread). I have to use the horizontal bar at the bottom to get my spread into the center of the editing pane. No big deal, except that I have to do it 100 times per editing session! I have tried this: To reposition the spread origin: Do one of the following: Drag from the default horizontal/vertical ruler intersection at the top left of your document view to position the spread origin on the page. If snapping has been activated, the spread origin will be able to snap to objects on the page. From the View menu, access the Guides Manager. Enter X and Y values into the Spread Origin section. But neither works. From the View menu, all this does is set where my document starts (0"), not where the ruler starts (-14"). I want the ruler to start at -1", for example. See attached screenshot. Thanks, and sorry for the newbie question. OK, I SEE NOW. IF I CLICK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SPREAD IN THE PAGES PANEL, THE LEFT PAGE IS CENTERED (AND THERE IS A LOT OF EMPTY DARK SPACE ON THE LEFT); CLICK ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SPREAD IN THE PAGES PANEL, AND THE RIGHT PAGE IS CENTERED (AND THERE IS A LOT OF EMPTY DARK SPACE ON THE RIGHT). BUT, CLICKING CAREFULLY ON THE MIDDLE OF THE SPREAD GETS ME WHAT I WANT, THE SPREAD DISPLAYED IN THE EDITING PANEL. Edited April 7 by caruso john I'm an idiot. Instead of "clicking CAREFULLY on the middle" you can just double-click on the page number below the page thumbnails to get the spread displayed completely and centred. 6 hours ago, caruso john said: the spread appears off center, and the rule starts at -14 inches (…) (AND THERE IS A LOT OF EMPTY DARK SPACE ON THE LEFT) This offset for page display depends on your window size (aspect ratio) and spread format. The dark area (the "pasteboard") will be smaller if you increase the window height / reduce the window width or activate the right studio panels for instance… Alfred 1 Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
caruso john
Thank you very much Thomaso--the first tip is great; clicking on the page numbers under the pages in the Pages panel is easier than trying to find the precise middle of the spread there I'm trying to figure this stuff out myself first and held off with several more questions today (even figured one or two out myself). I'm just moving over from Word for my new photo book and it is taking me some time to get familiar with the controls. Thanks again.
