Max 1955
Hello everyone, kindly, I need to make the white background transparent from a black text that I need to insert on a color PDF page. The attached image was made with Photoshop, I would like to achieve the same thing with Affinity Photo 2 Thanks Massimo
Komatös
Hi @Max 1955 Goto Menu -> Document and tick Transparent Backround. GarryP
Alternatively, you could just type the text directly into an Artistic Text layer and save a lot of bother (unless I’m missing something important from the requirements).

Komatös
If you in Affinity Photo goto Menu > Document there is the option to hide the backround. Max 1955
Can it also be done with a handwritten and scanned text? I have to insert it into a PDF document Si può fare anche con un testo scritto a mano e scansionato? Lo devo inserire in un documento PDF Edited April 7 by Max 1955
Komatös
27 minutes ago, Max 1955 said: Devo inserirlo in un documento PDF The handwritten text should have a strong dark colour. You can then select the Blend options in the Studio tab Layers on the right-hand side of the cogwheel. In the Source Layer Ranges section, set a handle point to the middle, select the right handle point and drag it down and towards the centre. The background should now slowly become invisible. Now you can crop the layer and execute the Rasterise and Trim command via Menu > Layer. Now export as png or pdf. Max 1955
Ora esporta come png o pdf. I know I'm asking too much, but when you have a minute could you please test whether it remains transparent on a PDF like the one I sent. bbrother
1 hour ago, Max 1955 said: What format do you save it in? You should use the PNG format as it is celebrated for its support for alpha channel transparency. It is lossless and supports a wide color spectrum, including grayscale and full-color images. This is a go-to format if you want to create an image with different levels of opacity. On the screenshots below you can check the (click them to enlarge): Export settings (file format), APh (AffinityPhoto) — the look of handwritten element in pdf Browser (MSEdge) — the look of the final pdf opened in browser. I hope I have dispelled your doubts as to whether an element made from a hand-scan will retain its transparency in the PDF file. Komatös
@Max 1955 You can preview the saved png in Windows Explorer. All you have to do is to activate the details view. If you don't see a white background in your cropped png file, you've done everything right. And, you don't asking to much. Nobody does know all. Max 1955
Thank you all so much for your help, I feel like Affinity Photo 2 does more things than the Adobe Photoshop Elements 2024 I'm trying. Thanks to the availability. Komatös
