Chris.E Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Hey guys, I am running Designer V2 and Photo V2 on windows. I discovered that I can not update the software with the "check for updates" button. Does anyone know the issue? Quote
GarryP Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Can you give us a full-screen screenshot which shows the problem? Quote
GarryP Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Thanks. Where did you get the software from? If it was from the Serif Store, was it the MSIX or MSI/EXE version? Quote

Chris.E Posted April 4, 2024 Author Posted April 4, 2024 At the time of purchasing version V2 the MSI installers were hosted on Dropbox. Quote
GarryP Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Where did you get the link from, and do you still have the link to it? Quote
Chris.E Posted April 4, 2024 Author Posted April 4, 2024 It is a corporation license. There might be differences to the personal license. I contacted the corporation support for help. Quote
GarryP Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Ah, that may be where the issue arises from. If the organisation doesn’t want users to update at different times then there may be a way for them to disable the update process until they are ready, from a coordinated organisational perspective, to do so. Chris.E Posted April 4, 2024 Author Posted April 4, 2024 Yes I do think so, too. Thanks for responsing so quickly. I will close this topic... Quote
GarryP Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 You’re welcome. There’s no need to close/hide the topic as it might be helpful to someone else. Chris.E 1 Quote
Francesco Di Niccolo Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 We have the same issue and many licences for our business. Currently, we have to ask our IT company to update the software every time, they do it remotely via script. Often there are deployment issues due to people having the software open or being offline. There should be a way to allow users to update directly and anytime! Is there at least an option for managers to allow for this? Quote

I think you'll need to speak to your IT Department, who will probably have a contact at Serif for support, or who will be able to contact corpsupport@serif.com for further assistance. The company license can contain various specifications. In our company, all software updates are installed by IT. This also has the advantage that individual users do not have to worry about updates. Quote

Karol Szadkowski Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I have the exact same problem. I installed the Affinity package from MSI and now the "Check for updates" button is grayed out. I currently have version 2.5.5 and would like to update to version 2.6. I should add that I am a system administrator. Is the only option to reinstall ffinity or can I force the update manually somehow, maybe some command line or registry entry? Quote

You can always download a more current version from the Affinity website and run the newer installer, which will perform an update. Just make sure you pick the correct version. If you initially installed the MSI/EXE version you need to keep choosing that one, or if you initially installed using MSIX you need to choose that one. As "Check for Updates" is grayed out, I wonder if you're installing in a corporate environment where the IT department has special deployment methods. Even if you're an Administrator on your machine, a corporate group might have overridden your update authority to ensure everything stays synchronized across multiple machines.
