AffPhoto v.2.4.0 Acquire image not working (Mac Big Sur 11.7.10)

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to perform a scan of a color photo. Scanner = Canon printer/scanner TS5350i.
The scanner is listed as "shared", not as "device".

The result is abysmal, and that's putting it mildly, see pic.

It works fine in Pixelmator Pro.
I've searched the Forum, it seems I'm not the only one.
The solutions provided in the forum are workarounds, has the issue been fixed, does anybody know ?

No need to start a new thread, you could have simply added your report to any of these threads:

Thank you, Loukash. Yes, I've seen those.

But my question was (and is) : does anybody know if this issue  (since 2021)  has been fixed ?

And if so, how ?

Best, C.L.

It hasn't because apparently Serif staff cannot easily reproduce it. It doesn't affect everyone.
Just recently I actually noticed that one of my old Epson scanners now works on Ventura while the relatively new HP scanner/printer doesn't.

As I have posted in some of those threads, the easiest "workaround" is to ignore the Acquire Image command and fire up Image Capture instead – which is exactly the same interface – and set it to "Scan to Affinity Photo".

I used to be to able to scan an image directly into Photoshop. Somewhere along the line, Adobe disabled that feature because there were too many problems, configurations and conflicts with scanners and/or scanner software. I think that still remains the case, at least in PSCS6, which was my last Adobe purchase. I don't know if Adobe has changed that in later releases of Creative Cloud versions or not.

So, I got into the habit of scanning an image to my desired file format (8/16 bit, TIFF, JPG, PDF, color, BW, grayscale, etc) and saving it in a file folder, then opening the scanned file in my photo editor. That's what I do with Affinity Photo too (I've never even tried Acquiring an image directly into AP.)

I preferred the convenience of scanning directly into my photo editor. Maybe Affinity has some similar issues with scanners? Anyway, give that a try if all else fails.
