Witte rand om foto in Affinity Photo 2.0

Goedemiddag, 

Graag wil ik een witte rand om mijn foto's plaatsen. Met een dun grijs lijntje tussen de foto en de witte achtergrond. Ik heb wat filmpjes op YouTube gevonden, maar die gaan me iets te snel, zelfs na het herhaaldelijk opnieuw bekijken. Ik vermoed dat het ligt aan de Engelse taalbarrière. 

Daarom zoek ik een stapsgewijze instructie hoe ik dit het beste kan aanpakken.

De foto's zijn allen oorspronkelijk A4- formaat. De witte rand mag gerust 10 tot 15 mm zijn. 

Ik print het uiteindelijke resultaat zelf uit met mijn Canon fotoprinter op high resolution paper.

Wie kan mij helpen aan deze instructies?

I’m not entirely sure of your requirements – there are missing details – but my attached video shows one quick way to do what I think you might want.

If that doesn’t do what you want then we might need more details.

One way would be to use the photos as "Image" layers + apply a wanted stroke to them. If you want to achieve the same border width at all edges and preserve the aspect ratio of the photo you need to crop the image, apart from scaling it.

Below an example with a masking rectangle, it can can get sized + positioned independently of the image while the stroke applied to the image gets masked, too, and thus will appear inside only regardless of the stroke align setting.

Another workflow would apply the stroke as before but scale the document in the print dialog. This way you have less influence on the border width and photo position, the border won't be the same on each size, the photo will be placed centred, unless you use the "n-up" print option with its individual offset.

Alternatively you can use APub -> Master Page -> Picture Frame -> stroke. This can make it easier to add the white & black frame to a bunch of images.

Bedankt voor uw reactie, maar dat is niet wat ik zoek, helaas. In Photoshop is het onmogelijk heel gemakkelijk te maken. Sinds ik ben overgestapt van Photoshop naar Affinity Photo, sta ik echt voor een raadsel en dus kom ik er echt niet uit.

Wanneer ik een foto heb ingeladen en er een wit kader is gemaakt, kan ik geen lijntje trekken. Ik heb van alles schijnbaar maar er verschijnt geen lijn rondom de foto. Ik trek een rechthoek rondom de foto. Daarna behandel ik de FX-optie om de rand op te maken, maar er gebeurt gewoon helemaal niets met de lichtblauwe lijn die om de foto heen staat.

Ik realiseer me dat ik voor een lastig probleem sta. Ik heb het YouTube-filmpje - 3 eenvoudige manieren om een rand aan een afbeelding toe te voegen - diverse malen bekeken maar het werkt alleen maar verwarrend al die methoden. Zie de link. Wie weet wat ik precies fout doe?

If you place a picture resource it gets placed as layer type "Image". Then you may choose "Rasterize" to convert it to a layer of type "Pixel".
If you open a picture resource it gets placed as layer type "Pixel". Then you may right-click on object in the layout window + choose "Convert To Image Resource".

To create a coloured border to a picture an easy way is to assign a "Stroke" via the Context Toolbar to a selected layer. This option is available for "Image" layers, "Pixel" layers don't enable this option.

If you prefer "Pixel" layers you can add a stroke at its edges alternatively with a separate "Rectangle" shape object – or with an effect applied to the selected pixel layer, as demonstrated in your linked video. Unfortunately this video simply renames a layer of type "Pixel" into "Image" which may be misleading: the layer icon shows it is still a "Pixel" layer but just renamed. Thus the Stroke option in the Context Toolbar is not available and one remaining option for a stroke creation is via an "Outline" layer effect.

In this workflow the rectangle object either needs to …

• be placed above the photo layer and have no fill colour assigned, …
• or be larger than the photo layer, … or, a lot simpler and comfortable, …
• be placed below or above but get the stroke assigned to the rectangle aligned centred or outside but not inside because the photo in same size covers the entire inner area of the rectangle.

If it doesn't work for you show a screenshot (with all possibly collapsed layers unfolded) and the layer selected that should display the stroke but does not. For the screenshot it is useful to choose a larger width than wanted to make the stroke visible to the forum.
