justwhitee
Hello everyone, I am experiencing some issues with Affinity Photo v1, which I know is no longer supported. However, I installed the v2 (trial version), and I am facing the same problems. The SO I work on is Windows 11. The software is not updating (in my opinion) any item properly, and sometimes, it doesn't even update when I hover over the mouse or use a similar method. A few weeks ago, it was working without any issues, but now it seems broken. I have already contacted support, and they suggested resetting the software, which I did, but it didn't work. Now that I have installed v2, I can't even accept the terms and conditions because the software is not updating (I am unable to scroll the text whether I use the slider and check the box is uncheckable). I have attached a video that shows some of the problems I am facing with v1 (the same video I sent to support). I am hoping that someone here can help me, as I am quite desperate. I have not tried factory resetting the OS, and I would like to avoid that at all costs. I believe the issue may be caused by a faulty driver or a malfunctioning component of the software. Thank you all for reading, and any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Best regards, Matteo - justwhitee AffinityTroubles.mov
Ron P.
Welcome to the forums @justwhitee After viewing your video, thanks for providing it, it seems like a video driver issue. What GPU (video card) are you using? When is the last time you updated the drivers? Don't rely on Windows for this. Check and download them from the manufacturer's website. It's also recommended to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to do a clean install of the updated drivers. RichardMH
In Windows Settings->Apps->Installed apps you can select Advanced Options for Affinity Photo and try Repair and maybe Reset. After that it may be sfc/scannow and maybe DSIM, which I haven't had to use for a long time.

I have a Nvidia GTX 1060 6 GB, I updated the drivers I think more or less a couple of weeks ago through the Nvidia software. I will try to clean install manually the drivers, thank you again. Just one thing, sorry if I ask you, but could you explain the second part? I don't understand what I have to do😅. If I don't go wrong scannow is a command for CMD. Thank you anyway for your help. Best regards, Matteo Nvidia has a clean install option that makes it a bit easier. Its in the custom installation in GeForce Experience. justwhitee
Hi, I have some unfortunate updates to share with you. I have attempted to fix the issues by using the "sfc /SCANNOW" command, but it did not find any problems. Additionally, I tried using the advanced voice option in the installed app menu, but it also did not solve the problems. Finally, I attempted to clean install GPU drivers (there was also a new version available), but this also did not fix the issues. I would appreciate any further suggestions you may have to resolve the problems. I want to make clear that I am not experiencing any other issues with any other software on my computer. Thank you for your help. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Edit: I try several times to run the program and it randomly crashes, even if there are no projects opened inside. justwhitee
I have noticed few more details: the troubles I have in not refreshing sliders, cells and whatever happen only in "Photo Persona" section (the first in the foto). In the other sections those things do not happens, except for the drop-down menu, they are everywhere and always bugged; same thing for e.g. the settings/preferencing window/menu
walt.farrell
I suggest checking for third-party applications that might be causing problems. I would start by looking for ASUS Sonic / ASUS GPU Tweak III / MSI Nahimic, as those are found on many systems and frequently cause problems for the Affinity applications. justwhitee 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. RichardMH
To see what is happening, set up a new account on your PC, install affinity photo on that account and see if the trouble persists. Seems a bit extreme but I've just had to do that to try and resolve problems with Capture One. Might also be worth trying with a different mouse. I uninstalled GPU Tweak II and now Photo v1 and v2 are working perfectly. It's quite strange because I've had this software for a long time and it never caused any issues. Maybe I updated it at the same time the problems started, but I'm not entirely sure. Big thanks to you and all the people helped me! You literally saved me Hope this topic can help other people in the same situation! Edited March 26 by justwhitee walt.farrell
