Affinity Photo can't be the target of drag and drop image from VSCODE

Recommended Posts

You can click on the filename of the image in the VS Code Explorer to display it and then either:

  • right-click the image, select Copy, then paste it into the Affinity application, or;
  • right-click the image, select Copy, and then use “File → New From Clipboard” in the Affinity application, or;
  • drag the image to the Affinity application (I think you need to click on a different filename and then click on the original image filename again in the Explorer to be able to drag it again).

Note: When you drag a file from the Explorer in VS Code, you are dragging some text which contains the filename of the file.

At least in v2.4 (of all three apps), you can also copy SVG code from VSCODE onto Clipboard, and either paste it as a rendered image on the canvas, or paste it in an already existing text frame as text. This used to be possible earlier only in macOS app versions.

A workaround could be to use the "Reveal in File Explorer" (shortcut) and D&D to Affinity Photo, but it just a workaround, the ideal solution would be the direct D&D to Affinity Photo
