Eelco Bruinsma Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 Hi there, I have an issue when editing a query in the "States" feature. By the way, this is a great feature, I love it! On an iMac (2023, Sonoma 14.2.1, 16G). Nearly all functionality in the "States" feature works very well. I can create queries based on tags, curves, locked layers etc etc and capture the states related to them. Only when I check the box "Layer type is" > "Shapes", and want to uncheck the box next to "Layer type is", Designer quits. Also when check "Layer name" > fill in a name > check the box "use Regex", then it quits. Or it quits when I uncheck that box, or when I edit the name in the "Layer name" box. In any case. Editing these textual elements in the query dialog in different combinations and order of execution makes my iMac quit. A clear example of "computer says 'no'". I have attached 2 reports for 2 different incidents. I hope you find the source of the problem, because this is a very useful addition to the toolbox of Designer. This sounds like an issue which has already been logged under AF-2319. 2 hours ago, Eelco Bruinsma said: Only when I check the box "Layer type is" > "Shapes", and want to uncheck the box next to "Layer type is", Designer quits. This I'm not experiencing though... any chance you could upload a quick screen recording that includes the complete UI, including your Layers Panel showing this happening? Staff Sean P Posted March 5, 2024 Staff Posted March 5, 2024 Hi Eelco, Welcome to the Affinity forums. As Hangman points out this is a known issue and occurs when the caret is placed in the Layer Name field. Selecting any of the other checkboxes will cause the app to crash. If you press Return after using the layer name field it will accept the value and prevent the crash when using the checkboxes. With that said the crash has been fixed by development and will be included in 2.4.1 17 hours ago, Hangman said: This I'm not experiencing though... any chance you could upload a quick screen recording that includes the complete UI, including your Layers Panel showing this happening? This tick box will cause the same crash as the regex one if the caret is placed in the name field as mentioned above. Hangman and Eelco Bruinsma 2 Quote

Apologies, I'd read this as two independent scenarios, i.e., one purely using the Layer Type, checking and then unchecking the Layer Type checkbox and a second scenario checking and then unchecking the Layer Name checkbox when clicking in the Layer Name is Text Entry Box (the known bug) but yes, when combined the crash happens... Eelco Bruinsma Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 Hi Hangman and Sean P, Many thanks for your quick and clear replies. Although I searched for this issue in the forum, I did not find it, but, as you point out, it has already been identified and taken on board. I made a video to illustrate the issue, but uploading it now would be quite superfluous So, once again, many thanks and also many thanks for the suggested temporal solution. It's nice to be on board here. Sean P and Hangman 1 1 Quote
