Select Same Name selects objects from hidden/locked layers

Recommended Posts

As the title suggests, selecting object by same name selects all objects with that name even from hidden and locked layers. "Select hidden objects" is not turned on. "Edit all layers" is not turned on.

Note that select shape works as it should and does not select the same shape on hidden layers when "Select hidden objects" is not enabled; however it does not work with select name.

I did a little bit of testing with the attached document and can replicate the issue.

Select the blue diamond shape, then make sure “Select Hidden Layers” is switched OFF in the “Select Same” menu, then use menu “Select → Select Same → Name”, or right-click on the same layer in the Layers Panel and choose “Select Same Name”.

The hidden blue polygon on the right is selected.

This is with “Edit All Layers” ON or OFF (but I only have one Artboard so that’s probably irrelevant in this instance).

Note: I would not expect the “Select Hidden Layers” option to have any effect on the functionality regarding locked layers as layer locking is separate from layer hiding.

Hi @lala,

I've replicated and logged this with the developers, many thanks.

Though, as GarryP mentioned the locked layers being included in the selection is as expected as there isn't a separate toggle for 'Select Locked layers' currently.
