Publisher 2 won't load document in macOS Sonoma

Recommended Posts

I am a stupid, stupid man: I finally got around to updating my MacBook Pro to macOS Sonoma today, entirely forgetting that I have a big job on in Affinity Publisher 2. The app loads, but when I try to open my document -- or any document -- it sits there saying "loading document" forever. Depending on whether I double-click the document, choose File/Open, or drag the document to the Publisher 2 app in the dock, it sometimes just stays blank but protests as "at least one document is opening".

I've gone through the forums and found advice about a similar Publisher 1 , to do with Terminal settings and a Light/Dark Mode bug, but it hasn't helped.

Any advice, please? I have of course updated everything. Thanks for any help.

William

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Sonoma changed the way that files on iCloud are handled, and some users have reported that it can take hours for Sonoma to finish its synchronization processing and allow the files to be used.

Advice: Just wait. Maybe a few hours, or maybe overnight. Eventually your file should finish opening.

Hi @WilliamGallagher,

Glad to hear this has been resolved.

Should it happen in the future, then clicking Apple > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders > expand each app and please disable 'iCloud Drive' for each app should resolve the issue without needing the long wait.

That's very useful, thank you: I can see that helping with other app problems.
