Hello, I have put a pge number insertion in my Publisher file but they do not export with the pdf files, neither the print ready versions nor the small pdf. Can someone please give advice on this? There are various how to videos on the subject but this issue never seems to arise, so I am obviously doing something wrong. I am making a photo book with no captions, so page numbers are required.

If you can see the page numbers on the pages in Publisher, I'm not sure why they wouldn't export.

Can you share a small sample of your .afpub document?

If you mean custom page numbering and its transportation to a PDF, this is not supported in Affinity apps. You need to use Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar utility to apply custom page numbering onto a PDF.

Walt, I can't see the page numbers in my Affinity pages, so probably I am in error in some way. Though I have frequently used Publisher for photo books I haven't previously wanted to page number, so this is a first attempt. The intention was to avoid captions. The page numbering is set up as a field. Probably it is easier to just do it manually.

Please show us a screenshot or share a sample.

If you can provide a screenshot, make sure it includes the Layers panel, and a document page, as well as the rest of the application window.

Lacerto, the file is not a pdf, it is Publisher which is exported as pdf for the printer

Ok, I misunderstood. If you have the number field inserted on a master page, ensure that the master page is applied to regular pages, and also that you do not have something that covers the page number (if you do, move the master page layer on top of other layers so that the page number shows):
