pioneer Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 I have created a TOC but it seems to put a paragraph return in between lines (A). I amended it with a shift return and on screen looks fine (B). However when going to pre-flight it shows an error and a fix. When I click on the fix it reverts to a larger spacing (A)between entries. Is there a way of resolving this please? Cheers John. Update think I have resolved this updated the paragraph and all appears to be Ok now. Quote AMD Ryzen 7 5800 X. MikeTO Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 It looks like your TOC text styles have space before or space after defined. Edit the TOC text styles and change those values to 0. If it's not those options, then check the leading value in the TOC text styles. There's also a known bug with generating and updating the TOC in that it "picks up" recently applied formatting. For example, if you italicize a word elsewhere in the document before updating the TOC then the TOC will be italicized when you update it. To avoid this, define all the text attributes in the TOC text styles. To avoid italics being picked up, you'd define the text style as the regular non-italic version of the font. You might also want to read the Text Styles chapter of the free manual I've shared in this forum for Publisher. walt.farrell Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Continuing on from what Mike said: By default, assuming those entries use Heading 1 as the Text Style, you'll have TOC Text Styles of TOC1: Heading 1 which is based on TOC1: Entry which is based on Base. Base specifies a Space After of 12pt in its paragraph settings, and the TOC Text Styles leave that unchanged. You can edit any of those Text Styles and change the Space After to 0.
